Since launching in 2002 we have processed many thousands of card transactions.
The security and authenticity of these transactions is our top priority and we
employ the services of the UKs largest independent payment service provider to
handle the processing of all our card transactions.
All transaction information submitted via our site is encrypted using 128-bit
SSL certificates. No Carter and Bond staff are able to decrypt transaction
information or cardholder data. Cardholder information is secure even from our
own employees because our systems never display sensitive card details, even on
No cardholder information is ever transmitted without encryption. You can therefore
rest assured that none of the information provided can be examined, used or modified
by any third parties attempting to gain access to sensitive information.
Once on the systems of our payment service provider, all sensitive data is secured
using the same internationally recognised 256-bit encryption standards used by, among
others, the US Government. The encryption keys are held on state-of-the-art, tamper
proof systems in the same family as those used to secure VeriSign's Global Root
certificate, making them all but impossible to extract. These systems are regularly
audited by the banks and banking authorities.
The Carter and Bond Team
Most card fraud occurs as a result of restaurant or shop staff recording card details.
When cards are physically handled, the sensitive information can either be skimmed (data
electroncially recorded) or the external details copied. Fraudsters can then attempt to
use these details to obtain goods or services elsewhere (e.g.from on-line shops). In the
event of fraud occuring you (the cardholder) are protected by the card issuer who will
reimburse you. We (the merchant) are at greater risk since the funds used fraudulently
would be restored to the innocent card holder and we would not be compensated for our
loss. In the interests of reducing such fraud therefore we would respectfully ask you to
be vigilant when handing over your card in a retail environemt and to be suspicious if a
salesperson or waiter wants to take your card out of site.
